Gov. Rounds requests flags at half staff Monday in honor of Navy pilot
PIERRE, S.D. –Gov. Mike Rounds asks that all flags in the state be flown at half staff on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. until sunset, in honor of Navy Lieutenant Clinton Wermers.
Lt. Wermers, a Navy flight instructor, and a Navy student aviator crashed Jan. 23 on a landing approach to the New Orleans Lakefront Airport at New Orleans, Louisiana. Lt. Wermers, a Mount Vernon native, was attached to Training Squadron 6, Whiting Field Naval Air Station, Milton, Fla.
A funeral service for Lt. Wermers will be held on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at 11 a.m. CDT at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell.
