The ‘Smoking Mule’ is moving to Chamberlain
At Monday night’s Chamberlain City Commission meeting, Police Chief Jason Handel submitted a list of resolutions which sets the amount of fines for violations of certain ordinances of the city. Handel requested that the fine for violating Ordinance #148, the unlawful possession or discharge of firearm, be raised from $50 to $100, due to a number of issues with people shooting at geese and waterfowl inside city limits. Commissioners approved Handel’s request to increase the fine.
Commissioners adopted resolution #2019-02, the $300,000 borrower bond fund needed to pay for the replacement of water meters in town. It is a 10-year loan at two percent interest.
