Chamberlain prepares for possible flooding

At the Monday night’s City Commission meeting, Ron LaMie, recreation coordinator for the city of Chamberlain, gave a presentation of the new Recreation link on the city’s website for summer recreation programs. Going live April 4, people can create an account, then browse and sign-up for programs they decide to participate in.

All necessary information such as what it’s for, dates, times and location of practices, as well as the option to make payments will be offered. City Engineer Greg Powell said, “I’m 100 percent sure this is a very secure site,” saying it is the same one used by Las Vegas casinos. Utilizing the same Recreation link, people can also register for swimming lessons, purchase season tickets, order t-shirts, or rent the community center. LaMie can remotely unlock the doors to the community center when it is reserved online. The city’s website can be accessed at Chamberlainsd. net.

Rec program sign-ups will go on as they become available; the girl’s softball program is currently active. “This can be used as a marketing tool as well,” said LaMie, who has been working on getting the website link ready for the past six months. “I can send out notifications for things coming up to all the people involved in that.”
