Christmas mail reported missing from rural mailboxes

A few weeks before Christmas, a rural Oacoma resident discovered several pieces of mail in her rural mailbox that did not belong to her, and appeared to have been opened, ransacked and stuffed into her box. She reported the incident to the Oacoma Post Office.

This individual realized later that a gift mailed to their home address had not arrived prior to Christmas. This was only one of several reports of missing or tapered mail reported to area post offices and the Lyman County Sheriff’s office at Kennebec.
