County changes snow removal policy for gravel roads

Brule County commissioners approved a change for the snow removal and road sanding policy for county roads at the November 4 meeting, to read snow removal ‘will be done as needed on gravel roads.’

Highway Superintendent Mike Schlaffman advised commissioners that it will be necessary to rent a pump so that water covering the road on Highway 16 just east of junction Highway 50 can be pumped away before it freezes. The water will be pumped to the east about 300 feet, where it can reach a natural creek.
