Courthouse starting to settle

Visual defects near the ceiling of the highest portion of the Brule County Courthouse have led officials to information regarding the need to stabilize the ground below the floor.
At their March 21 meeting, the Brule County Commission reviewed preliminary findings from Core Engineering, which indicated that cracks in the second story courtroom and judge’s chambers are the result of the courthouse being built atop unstable soil.
