COVID-19 considered ‘community spread’

Public advised to practice social distancing

Governor Kristi Noem stated in a press conference Monday afternoon that COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus, has been upgraded to ‘community spread’ – the term means that individuals are now catching the virus from others undetected. Earlier confirmed cases involved only people who had traveled outside of the state.
