A Family Tradition: Father & Son Deploy together
When soldiers deploy to war zones, communities rally in support of them and the loved ones they leave at home. But for two Chamberlain men, family was a part of the deployment.
“I did not get to see him very often, but it was pretty nice the two or three times that we did get to see each other,” said Monte Claussen, who recently returned from a deployment to Kuwait and Iraq that he “shared” with his son, Nick Claussen. “From where I was in the Tactical Operations Center, I could watch … where he was at and what he was doing. We could watch what the drones were doing, where the bombs were dropping, what people were moving where—it was the big tactical place of the whole operation.”
