Helping others achieve abilities
“I love working for the people we support at Dakota Milestones! Where else can a person go to work where they can see people get excited just to see you in the morning? Seeing people smile is just one of the many benefits of working here,” said Lesli Colestock, a DSP (direct support professional) for Chamberlain’s Dakota Milestones, one of South Dakota’s 19 support providers for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Employing 60 staff members, 46 of which are DSP, Dakota Milestones serve individuals both residentially and vocationally, overseeing five group homes and assisting several people living in their own homes or apartments.
“Direct support professionals are the backbone of our organization. We wouldn’t be able to operate without them,” said Ronda Schelske, executive director at Dakota Milestones.
