Local businesses start to re-open
Chamberlain and Oacoma area businesses are slowly starting to re-open or go back to regular hours of operation following the Chamberlain City Commission’s May 4th decision to amend City Ordinance 638 that placed restrictions on some businesses.
The city approved striking items 1-6 from Ordinance 638 that limited the number of patrons that could be in a business at one time or required facilities to be staffed when open (such as a fitness center). The city’s ordinance did not at any time require any business to close, however many retail stores, restaurants, bars and professional offices closed their doors to protect their employees and customers while continuing to offer curbside or drive-thru services. The ordinance did state all businesses must practice the recommended CDC guidelines and procedures for social distancing and the practice of good hygiene.
