Pearson asked board to consider changing dual course credit amounts
Mr. Pearson asked the board to consider changing the number of credits earned by students who successfully complete a dual credit course. The current policy gives students who complete a dual credit course a ½ of high school credit. Pearson recommended that the board change this policy so that students would receive a full course credit for each dual credit course they complete. Before presenting this request to the board Pearson and Chelsey Tyrell, the school counselor, surveyed 39 schools and currently 22 of those schools already give students a full credit for dual credit courses. The board was interested in the possibility of making the change but will not vote on the change until the next board meeting.
