Potter Post requests school district add MIA/POW flag to display

Doug Feltman spoke to the Chamberlain Board of Education Monday night on behalf of the American Legion Potter Post #3. According to Feltman, the American Legion is focused on ensuring that America remembers the service and sacrifice of our military men and women and asked the board to consider flying the POW/MIA flag at each of the district’s building locations. Currently there are still 315 South Dakota service men who are missing overseas from past conflicts and are still being searched for. Bringing home these fallen soldiers is a long process which requires cooperation between governments. Flying the POW/MIA flag is a way to help remind people of their sacrifice and remind the next generation. Potter Post will donate the first flag to each location, after that the district will be responsible for cost of replacing the flags which range between $20-$30 each. The board will vote on the request at the next meeting
