School Board denies bus stop request
At the Dec. 12 Chamberlain School Board meeting, Special Education Director Calico Hunjah addressed the board regarding the Behavior Program for the special education department which is being developed. The goal is to develop a program throughout K-12 which will aid in the removal of students who have violent or dangerous behaviors. The program will also address the needs of students who have emotional issues which can result in classroom disruption.
The focus of the program is not to just remove the students from the classroom but rather to help the student learn how to deal with their feelings and handle them in a productive way. The program is still in the very early stages of development and won’t be fully implemented until additional special education staff is in place.
