Vote for Chamberlain Kiwanis’ playground equipment entry

The city of Chamberlain has several play parks located around town that offer children the opportunity to swing, climb, bounce and slide to their hearts desires. But, not all children, especially those age 0-4 years old, and those with limited mobility, can safely use the current playground equipment. “Park equipment for 0-4 age kids is really lacking, and some parks still have a lot of old metal swings and slides that need updating,” said Aaryn Schaub of Chamberlain. Oacoma has a small play set at the Oacoma Community Center that works well for younger children, although more could be added to the city park. Schaub, a Chamberlain Kiwanis member, would like to see area parks more inclusive for the entire community giving children of all abilities and ages a safe environment to play and socialize. As a member of Kiwanis, she recently presented information to city officials about a grant through Kiwanis and Landscape Structures Inc., a Minnesota play equipment company, the 2019 Legacy of Play contest, that could provide $25,000 for new park equipment.
