A weekend food program for little Cubs

“Mom, I’m Hungry!” Sometimes hearing these words can add to the stress of trying to keep up with life’s demands. Whether it be a shortage of time or money, it can be a struggle for families to make ends meet. This fall, a pilot program is being implemented at CES for Kindergartners called the ‘Cub Pack.’ The mission is to provide nutritious, healthy meals for children over the weekend.

The program was launched by Chamberlain native Madison Swenson, who recently graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a degree in Nursing and is now employed by Sanford at Chamberlain. After taking a Public Health Nursing course in college, which focuses on the role of nurses in making contributions to public health, she became interested in how she could help her community.
