Lawrence Lewis Pickner Jr.
May 20, 1941 – July 4, 2018 Lawrence Lewis Pickner Jr. “Son”, passed away July 4, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 77. Lawrence was born on May 20, 1941 to Lawrence Lewis Pickner Sr. and Leone (Lewis) Pickner at his Grandmother’s home in Oacoma. He was delivered by his Great Grandmother Frances Lilly who was the mid-wife. He attended the Oacoma School through the 8th grade and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1959. On October 23, 1960, Lawrence married the love of his life, Wanda Jean (Hendershot) Hansen and to this union 4 children were born: Lawrence Lewis Pickner, III, Wanda Jean (Pickner) Bunker, Roland William Pickner and Raymond Dwayne Pickner. After graduating from high school Lawrence worked for Byre’s Garbage Hauling for 5 years then at Knox Service Station for a short time. Lawrence then attend Mitchell Technical Institute for auto diesel mechanics where he graduated with honors. Following graduation he worked construction for a few years then at Al’s Oasis for 25 years. In November of 2001 Lawrence retired from Al’s Oasis due to health issues. In his retirement years Lawrence enjoyed camping, woodworking, yard work, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his dogs Precious’ … 1 and 2. Lawrence is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Wanda; sons, Lawrence “Babe” (fiancé Deb) Pickner of Wadena, MN; Rollie (fiancé Laura) Pickner of St. Cloud, MN; Raymond (Patience) Pickner of Oacoma, SD and daughter Wanda “Sissie” (Frank) Bunker of Covington, WA; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Monte Pickner, great grandson Landon Nelsonr and daughter-in-law Pam.
