Memorial services for Alta R. Forell, 88, of Chamberlain, SD will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial of the ashes in the Graceland Cemetery at Oacoma, SD. Alta Ruth Hloucha was born September 26, 1929 on a farm in Brule County near Ola, SD to William W. and Mildred E. (Biddle) Hloucha. She attended country school near Ola, SD and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1947. On February 15, 1948, Alta was united in marriage to Ora Kenneth Forell at the Methodist Church in Chamberlain. Alta was employed for many years at Al’s Oasis and later at Taco John’s and Cedar Shore’s Gift Shop. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chamberlain and of the Mighty Mo Red Hats of Chamberlain. She enjoyed square dancing, golfing, playing cards, dominoes, and bingo. Alta was a great cook and loved putting on a large spread of food for family, friends, and hunters. Alta passed away on December 1, 2017 at Firesteel Healthcare in Mitchell at the age of 88 years. Gratefully sharing her life are two sons Dan and Ruth Forell of Vancouver, WA and Chuck and Dawnita Forell of Pierre, SD; two daughters Judy Sharples of Powell, WY and Joyce Pingrey of Lennox, SD; nine grandchildren: Dustin, Denise, Jason, Julie, Charles, Tyson, Ryan, Veronica & Jennifer; four great grandchildren: Sara, Kenneth, Timothy, Jeremy; and one great great grandchild Bentley. She is also survived by special family friends Terry and Lynda Boxdorfer of Sioux Falls, SD as well as sisters-in-law Ruth Hloucha and Darlene Iosty and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law Rick Pingrey; three brothers Wallace, Raymond, and Lars; two sisters Fern and Ellestine; and the children’s father Kenneth Forell.
