Memorial services for Brenda Kay Stiefvater, 54, of Pierre were held Monday, November 12, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Kennebec, SD. Burial of ashes will be at a later date. Brenda Kay Stiefvater, 54, of Pierre, passed away on November 6, 2018 at Avera Maryhouse in Pierre, SD. Brenda Kay Stiefvater was born September 16, 1964 at Faulkton, SD to Edwin and Grace (Whitney) Stiefvater. She attended several grade schools and then graduated in 1982 from McLaughlin High School. She attended Stewart School of Cosmetology in Aberdeen, SD. She stayed with her aunt and uncle, Jerry and Betty (Whitney) Worlie in Onida, SD and completed her cosmetology apprenticeship. After passing her state cosmetology boards she moved to Rapid City, SD and worked in different hair salons. Her profession later turned to food service and she managed several different establishments. While living in Rapid City, she met and fell in love with Roger Raschke. Together they moved to Las Vegas, NV and made their home with their beloved pets Tanker and Toony. Upon Roger’s passing in 2015 Brenda returned to South Dakota and lived in Onida with her special uncle, Jerry Worlie. Upon being diagnosed with lung cancer Brenda relocated to Pierre, SD to be close to her doctors. Gratefully sharing her life are her parents Edwin and Grace of Kennebec; brother Edwin Jr. and Kela Stiefvater of Rapid City, two nephews Justin and Jeremy Stiefvater of Rapid City, great-nephew Blazen Stiefvater and great-niece Violette Stiefvater, both of Hot Springs, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents Art and Velma Stiefvater, maternal grandparents Harold “Lank” and Margaret (Hamer) Whitney, brother Daniel James, and two aunts Betty (Whitney) Worlie and Wanda (Brodkorb) Whitney.
