Funeral services for Bruce Scott, 43 were held Saturday, October 29 at St. Mark’s ELCA Church in Sioux Falls. Bruce James Scott was born in Pierre April 27, 1973, to Dennis and Janine (James) Scott. The family lived in or near Vivian until they moved to Presho in 1984. Bruce attended Lyman Schools, graduating in 1991. He was active in drama, debate, band, choir, track, student council and Close-up. He was elected senior class president, inducted into the National Honor Society and named an All-American Academic Academy Scholar Award recipient. Continuing his love of learning, Bruce attended Augustana College, Killian University, University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Southeast Technical Institute. He joined the Marine Corps in 1996 and was stationed in Hawaii. After leaving the military, he moved to St. Paul to stay with his aunt Shelly, then to Sioux Falls. Bruce worked in retail in Sioux Falls and was employed at R.J. Ries Dry Cleaning Service at the time of his death. He suffered from various health issues which led to his untimely death of heart disease. Bruce adored his nieces and enjoyed arts and crafts projects with them. He also enjoyed baking, reading, photography, and computers. Bruce was preceded in death by his grandfathers Glenn Scott and Donald James, step-grandfather Robert Kline and aunt/ godmother Caroline Aske. He is survived by his mother Janine of Sioux Falls; father Dennis (Angela) of Presho; brothers Brad (Jill) of Presho and Brock (Julie) of Pierre; sisters Brandi (Noah) Osterman of Tea, Brooke (Jonny) Scott of Bryant, and Brenna Scott of Tea; nephews and nieces Skyler, Landen, Marina, Ashten, and Ember Scott; Cain and Keenan Scott; Kiarra and Kelci Osterman; and Makaylee and Jordyn Scott; grandmothers Lauretta Scott and Vivian James Kline; several aunts and uncles and many friends. He also leaves behind his beloved cats Harry, Jackie, and Frankie.
