Donald D. Hloucha

Funeral services for Donald D. Hloucha, 86, of Chamberlain, SD were held on December 28, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Union Cemetery at Bijou Hills, SD.

Donald Dean Hloucha passed away December 22, 2016 at Avera Brady Nursing Home/Hospice in Mitchell. He was born September 7, 1930 to Bessie and John V. Hloucha, at Bijou Hills SD. He lived on and worked the family farm until he went to the Army. After his discharge he returned home to the farm. In March of 1956 he married Christine Garcia.

To this union two children were born, Sheryl and John.

Don enjoyed all outdoor activities and he was an avid trap shooter, golfer, hunter, fisherman as well as bowler, winning many trophies over the years. He enjoyed all his friends and neighbors and was never too busy to help anyone that needed it. He was active in the community and served on the Ola Hall Board, Chamberlain School board, America Township Board and the Aurora-Brule Water Board throughout his life.

The joys of Don’s life were his wife, children, grandchildren and one great grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Chris, his son John and wife Carol, daughter Sheryl and husband David Baldwin, grandchildren John Hloucha, Heather (Justin) Rabern, Christopher and Michael Baldwin and one greatgrandson Eric Hloucha.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bessie Hloucha, two sisters, Mary Ann Dobberstein and Dorothy Blackwell.
