Frederick Miller, Jr., 87, of Kimball, SD joined our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD. Funeral Services were held Monday, April 15, 2019 at Kimball Protestant Parish. A Committal Service followed at Kimball Community Cemetery. Mount Funeral Home of Kimball is assisting with arrangements. Frederick Miller, Jr. was born on April 7, 1932 to Kathryn Mary (Zimmerman) and Fred George Charles Miller, Sr. in Patten Township, Aurora County, South Dakota. He attended Boesen Country School and went on to begin a career in ranching. He also sprayed for the Brule County Weed Board, SD Game, Fish and Parks, the school and public lands. On June 9, 1957 Fred was united in marriage to Ethel Goodman at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball, SD. They made their home on a farm north of Kimball until retiring and moving into Kimball in 2006. He made the most of enjoying life with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as adding to his John Deere tractor collection. Fred was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving on church boards and ushering. He was a member of Stock Growers, Farm Bureau, Neighborhood Card Club, Plummer Township Board, the Kimball Senior Citizens, and a 4-H Leader for the Lads & Lassies Club. He will be remembered fondly for the love he had for his four children, nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared in Fred’s life: his wife of over 61 years, Ethel Miller of Kimball, SD; four children: Dean (Pat) Miller of Mitchell, SD, Sharon Walters (Dan Fraser) of Gillette, WY, David Miller of Mitchell, SD and Janice Miller of Kimball, SD; nine grandchildren: Clifton (Tracey) Walsh, Shalon Walsh, Kriston Walsh (Clifford), Clayton Walsh, Jesslon (Bill) Wilhoyt, Josh (Tara) Miller, AshleyAnn (Clay) Weber, Keith (Crissy) Kappedal and Cody Miller; three step grandchildren: Robbie, Katie and Trandon Walters; 18 great grandchildren: Nathan Jones, Kylie Schafer, Jamie Houser, Danica Bauerle, Tucker Houser, Madison Armagast, Monte Wilhoyt, Madden Wilhoyt, Jace Soulek, Dean Wilhoyt, Abraham Wilhoyt, Marley Rae Weber, Mila Rose Weber, Layla James Weber, Taylor Kappedal, Jacob Kappedal, Callen Walsh and Chasen Walsh; three sisters: Marlys Hallman of Chamberlain, SD, Jean (Dwain) Blackwell of Chamberlain, SD and Lois (Ross) Goodrich of Mundelein, IL; along with many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred, Sr. and Kathryn Miller; a son-in-law, Robert Walters; two great grandchildren: Jacob Soulek and Alden Wilhoyt; parents-in-law, Art and Helen Goodman; and two brothers-in-law: Jack Mortrude and Walter Hallman.
