Pearl Margaret Burg

Pearl Margaret Burg 102 of Wessington Springs passed away Monday morning March 4th at the Weskota Manor Avera. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday March 8th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Friedrich officiating. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Pearl Margaret Linafelter was born February 4, 1917 in Jerauld County to James and Dora (Schmidt) Linafelter. She attended eight years at rural Skinner School, and graduated from Alpena High School. After high school, she attended Northwest College of Commerce in Huron, SD. Following school she did office work in Brookings and Pine Ridge. On August 31, 1939, she married Albert Burg of rural Lane, SD. They had 7 children and lived and farmed together on the original Burg farm. 4-H was always an important part of her life and she received many awards and honors. She enjoyed farm life and worked hard milking cows, gardening, and raising their children. She and Albert enjoyed square dancing and card parties. Pearl was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society, and many other community organizations. She thoroughly enjoyed her family and their large gatherings. She valued her Catholic faith, and it was an integral part of her life and raising her family. She is survived by her children - Jim (Bernice) Burg, Wessington Springs, SD, Lois (Don) Houwman, Sioux Falls, SD, Andy Burg, Kemmerer, WY, Betty (Jack) McNeil, Mitchell, SD, Ginger (Tom) Koehn, Chamberlain, SD, Quinten (Linda) Burg, Wessington Springs, SD, and Sylvia (Dennis) Ray, Portland, OR.; sister-in-law, Agnes Schroeder, her 22 grandchildren, 47 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; Albert, her parents, brothers & spouses; Raymond & Elsie, Everett and Opal: sister & spouse Rozella & Fay Krohmer, and recent passing of her daughter-in-law Diane Burg
