Susan Normile

Funeral services for Susan A. Normile, 25 of Chamberlain were held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain with burial at the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.

Susan Angela Normile was born on September 28, 1993 in Williston, North Dakota to Clarice and Lawrence Wind Jr. She traveled with her family throughout the United States and South Dakota until January 2001 when she and her brother came to live with Mike and Mary Normile in Chamberlain SD. Suzie quickly adjusted to membership in the family and eventually her adoption was finalized at the age of 10. Her good manners and gratitude made it a pleasure to care for her.

Suzie attended school in Chamberlain and participated in activities such as summer rec, Girl Scouts, basketball, Dancing Dolls, soccer and Chamberlain Swim Team. She especially enjoyed swim team and earned recognition for her efforts. She simply enjoyed swimming, competing and winning ribbons. She was a baptized member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

During her teen years, she attended school at a variety of locations and made many lifelong friends.

She deeply loved her children, Bryan and Eryanne and looked forward to time with them. It was her dream to one day come home and be reunited with them and her parents.

As a young adult she enjoyed working at Taco Johns in Chamberlain. Some of the people there, continued to be a support system for her after she was no longer employed there. She was especially proud in the fall of 2018 when she finally earned her GED.

At too young of an age, she was introduced to substance use and she fought addiction for the remainder of her life. Unfortunately, because of those challenges, she was never able to achieve many of her dreams and ambitions. Suzie had a kind heart and believed there was good in everyone until they proved otherwise and sometimes gave them more chances to redeem themselves than they deserved. Through all of her challenges she maintained a strong faith in God and at times, prayed constantly for herself and others. She was always so pleased and relieved when her prayers were answered. It was obvious that God was watching over her as best he could, because she survived many situations that others may not have. Her spirit will live on in her children and in our hearts.

Suzie passed away on January 29, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Suzie is survived by her children, Bryan Kindt and Eryanne Normile, her parents, Mike and Mary Normile and Clarice and Lawrence Wind Jr. She is also survived by her brothers James Normile, Preston Normile and Arnold Hopkins. She is survived by her sisters, Mariah Normile, Anna (Heath) Gourneau, Crystal (Ken) Flute, Neva (Ricky) Taylor and Brittany Buum. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend, Clyde Gilman.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, a brother Vilas Hopkins and her children’s father, Donald Kindt.
