Sylvia Ann Geppert, 97, of Kimball, S.D., passed away Sun., Dec. 11, 2016, at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Fri., Dec. 16, 2016 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball. A Committal Service will follow at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery.
Sylvia Ann (Mutziger) Geppert was born in Ethan, S.D. on Nov. 17, 1919 to Frank Bernard and Mary (Sullivan) Mutziger. She attended country school and then graduated from Ethan High School in 1937. After attending Notre Dame Junior College in Mitchell, she taught school in Brule County several years. On Oct. 26, 1940, Sylvia was united in marriage to Ralph P. Geppert at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball. They ranched near Miller until 1953, then returned to Kimball to ranch. They were together over 50 years, until Ralph’s passing in 1991.
Sylvia was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Margaret’s Altar Society and the Kimball Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards.
Grateful for having shared in Sylvia’s life: her four children: Kay (Charles) McManus of Chamberlain, Keith (Regina) Geppert of Pukwana, Gary (Lillian) Geppert of Sioux Falls and Kristie (Wayne) Haines of White Lake; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a sisterin- law, Rita Mutziger of Mitchell along with many nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Geppert; an infant daughter; her parents; five brothers and three sisters.
