Travis Leon Comes Flying was born on September 3, 1969 to Jozay and Delores (Ross) Comes Flying at Mid-Dakota Hospital in Chamberlain. Trav made his journey to the Spirit World on January 3, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD at the age of 50 years. During his life he attended Fort Thompson Elementary and went on to Crow Creek High School where he graduated in May of 1987 with Honors of Salutatorian of his class. In 1987, Trav enlisted in the United States Army graduating from basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. He was stationed on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii at the Fort Shafter from 1988 until 1991. Trav remained on active duty with the Army until being Honorably Discharged in 1994. From 1988 through 1992, Trav was blessed with three children: Trevor Comes Flying, Tiffany Comes Flying, and Josephae Comes Flying all of Fort Thompson, SD. In 1995, Trav began working for the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe as an Ambulance EMT.

He then went to work for the Fort Thompson Indian Health Service as a Community Health Representative. In 2014, he returned to work for the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe Ambulance Program as the Director. He was employed with the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe for over 20 years. In 1999, Trav met the love of his life Michelle Pease and they were united in marriage in 2007. To this union, they were blessed with four daughters Chenoa Comes Flying, Chante Comes Flying, Leondra Comes Flying, and Alanna Comes Flying all of Fort Thompson. Also, gratefully sharing his life are his two sisters Janice Bad Mocassin of Prior Lake, MN and Wanda (Frank) Gourneau of Fort Thompson; two brothers Fabian (Leatha) Comes Flying and Farlan Comes Flying both of Fort Thompson, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Trav loved being an EMT and serving his community and was well respected and loved by many people.

The people who were affected by his caring, loving, and generous spirit would have also known that his family and children are his world and meant everything to him. He was steadily and anxiously waiting for the arrival of the newest grandchild to be born from his daughter Chenoa. Trav’s many joys in life were to be spending time with his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his very special brother Fabian. Trav will be truly missed. Trav is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents Jozay and Delores Comes Flying, brothers Llewelyn Comes Flying, and Armand Comes Flying, Sr., a sister Deb Walking Bull, a very special aunt Illa Long Crow, niece Nellie Walking Bull, and his father-in-law Wallace Pease, Sr.
