The coaches from the Southeast South Dakota Conference selected fifteen area boys basketball players for 2019-2020 SESD All-conference boys basketball team. Coaches in the league voted for 15 players, with 15 points for their top pick and one point for the fifteenth pick. Keshaume Thigh and Drayton Priebe were among the players chosen as members of the team.
The Chamberlain Cubs were pitted against the Crow Creek Chieftains in the second round of Class A Region 6 playoffs. Chamberlain played Crow Creek on Feb. 11 and were defeated by 12 points. It was deja vu for the Cubs as they fell to the Chieftains in the playoff game, 60-72.
The Big Dakota allconference boys’ basketball team and individual selections were announced on Thursday, March 12. The Big Dakota Conference includes the teams from Chamberlain, CheyenneEagle Butte, Crow Creek, McLaughlin, Miller, Mobridge-Pollock, Stanley County, Todd County and Winner.
The Chamberlain Cubs trailed by 10 after the first quarter ended in the Regions 6A boys' basketball game held at the Chamberlain Armory on Tues., Mar. 3. The McLaughlin Mustangs got hot from outside the arch with five three-point baskets to finish the quarter leading 25-15.
When I moved to Chamberlain 16 years ago and started the process of rebuilding the Wrestling program with the help of many parents and coaches, the thought of placing at state wrestling tournament as a team was a dream and a goal that seemed almost unattainable especially the first few years. Just getting wrestlers qualified for state was a struggle.
