Crow Creek holds off Lady Cubs

The Lady Chieftains' speed and accuracy were too much for the Lady Cubs on Thurs., Jan. 3, in a girls’ prep basketball game held at the Chamberlain Armory. Crow Creek is number one in Region 6 with a 5-2 record. The Lady Cubs' record is 1-3, and they haven't had a game since Dec. 18. Chamberlain trailed the Chieftains from the beginning of the game. At the half-time break, Crow Creek was leading, 21-30.

After three periods the Cubs were down 31-45. The home team battled and out-scored Crow Creek 18- 16 in the final period, but it was too little, too late and Crow Creek pulled out their sixth victory, 49-61. “The girls competed hard on Thursday,” commented Coach Jeff Neuharth. “I thought, defensively, we did a good job of contesting most shots. Crow Creek is a good shooting team,” he added. The Lady Cubs had a too many turnovers during the game, which also hurt their offensive drives.
