Cubs edge past Cavaliers
The Cubs boys’ basketball team won a hard fought battle against the Bon Homme Cavaliers, 46-44, at the Chamberlain Armory on Sat., Jan. 12. The Cubs led at all quarter stops, but the Cavaliers kept knocking at the back door.
Chamberlain controlled the game until the fourth period. As the fourth quarter began, the Cavaliers trailed by seven points. By the midpoint, Bon Homme was down by four and Nate Scieszinski hit a 3-pointer to bring the Cavs to within one point of tying the game. It was on the next play that the Cavaliers edged ahead of the Cubs and continued to score giving them a 37-41 advantage with just two minutes to play. Cameron Caldwell hit his tenth point of the game and Bon Homme knocked the ball out of bounds to give the possession back to the Cubs. Keshaume Thigh came off the bench replacing Louie Running Horse who had fouled out and hit his shot from outside the arc to give the Cubs the lead by one point.
