Cubs faces tough competitors

The Chamberlain Cubs' basketball schedule is starting out with some top teams in Class A. The opening game of the year is against St. Thomas More in Rapid City on Sat., Dec. 8. The following Saturday, the team will travel east to Sioux Falls to face last year's third place team and one of the favorites to win state this year, Sioux Falls Christian.

The Cubs will also play the defending state champs, Madison Bulldogs, a tough Dell Rapids s1quad, along with Aberdeen Roncalli and Lennox.

The Big Dakota Conference and the SESD conference games will also give the Cubs a run for their money. The Cubs will be missing four starters this season as Riggs Priebe, Carson Powers, Marc Schwenk and Jacob Mutziger graduated. Senior Brant Gullickson is the only returning starter. Louie Running Horse (Sr.) came off the bench to provide essential scoring and will be looked upon to pick up where he left off. Senior Jazz Dominguez should provide leadership for the younger players. Luigi Delindati and Louize Ortega are the other senior players, and Danny Selland returns as the student manager.
