Homecoming game ends early
The spirits were high after a week long celebration of the 2017 Homecoming activities. The Cubs were ready to take on the Mt. Vernon/ Plankinton Titans, a team with a record of 3-3. Friday night's game would help determine which of the two participants would have a shot of taking the fourth seed in Region 3. Even though Chamberlain had the home field advantage and crowd to cheer them on, the Titans of Mt.Vernon/Plankinton had no trouble defeating the Cubs 52-0. The Titans were able to score on every possession they had in the contest. The game ended just minutes after the third quarter began when the Titans made their seventh touchdown.
Mt. Vernon/Plankinton won the toss and chose to defer the opening kickoff. Chamberlain would receive. In their first possession, the Cubs turned the ball over on downs and when the ball was punted, it was blocked by the Titans on the Cubs' 17 yard line. It only took two plays before the Titan, Hayden Haak scored a touchdown and a Jesse Hastings scored the two point conversion to lead, 8-0.
