Lady Cubs bring home third place at State Cross Country Meet

Chamberlain's crosscountry teams participated in the 2019 Class A State Cross Country Meet on Sat., Oct. 26, at the Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron. The top 25 individuals were presented with medals and first and second place teams received trophies while third through six place teams were awarded plaques. The Chamberlain Lady Cubs cross-country team earned the third-place hardware for the second consecutive year. Ally Hough finished in fifth place again this year, Kinsey Evans was 13th, Ella Phillips came in 40th, and Angelina Lopez finished in 80th place.

Samantha Peppel and Macy Martin were 97th and 114th, respectively. There were 124 individual runners and 15 teams competing inthe 5K race. Coach Gary Winter knew that the girls from Custer and Hill City would be tough competitors, but was very pleased with the Lady Cubs' performance and third place finish. The girls' team places are: 1.Custer 28, 2.Hill City 69, 3. Chamberlain 99, 4. Lennox 108, 5. Garretson 112, 6. SF. Christian 113. Lennox's Ali Bainbridge won the race with a time of 18:54.63. She was the 2018 runner-up behind Chamberlain's Ella Byers.
