Lady Cubs compete in post season matches
In Region 6A, the Lady Cubs were seeded fifth, and the Crow Creek Lady Chieftains were seeded fourth. Therefore, the Cubs traveled to Stephan on Tuesday, Oct., 31, to take on the Chieftains in the first round of the post season. Chamberlain pulled out the victory by winning three sets, 25-23, 25-13, and 25-10.
In the first set, the two teams battled for the lead, but the Lady Cubs prevailed. At one point, the Lady Cubs had a five point lead after Hannah Anderson had two kills and a block, but the Chieftain's Haylee Langdeau served three consecutive aces and Kaylee Wells had a block to narrow the Cubs' advantage to a one point lead. Rozee Drapeau severed two aces to tie the game at 13. The tie was broken when Paige Reuer made a block and Crow Creek had a hitting error. The Lady Chieftains went on a five point run to lead 15-18. The Lady Cubs found a spark to set them on fire and they went on an eight point run while Reuer was serving. She scored two aces, Alayne Daly had two kills, and Hannah Anderson had three kills. One point came from a Crow Creek hitting error. Chamberlain had a five point lead with the score reaching 23-18. The Lady Chieftains did not give up, and went on another mini run. They tied the score again at 23 points. Anderson scored the last two points with a kill and a block to give the Lady Cubs the 25- 23 victory.
