Mt. Vernon/Plankinton overpowers the Cubs

The MV/P Titans, the No. 3 ranked team in Class 11B, were a handful for the Chamberlain Cubs in the MV/P homecoming football game held on Fri., Oct. 5. The undefeated Titans rolled the Cubs 40-12.

Chamberlain started the game with the ball, but couldn't score and punted the ball away. The Titans had four first downs and moved the ball to the 22-yard line before the Titans fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Cubs. Chamberlain couldn't capitalize on their next possession, and MVP ran five plays to score a 34-yard TD run by Jesse Hastings. Weston Tobin ran the 2-point conversion into the end zone and the Titans had an 8-0 lead. The Cubs battled back and scored their first touchdown with a 48 yard passing play from Jazz Dominguez to Brant Gullickson. The 2-point conversion failed, and the Cubs trailed 8-6. Hastings would score on an 18-yard run for the Titan's second TD. Hayden Haak called his own number for the 2-pt conversion to give the Titans a 16-6 lead.
