SD School Districts receive more than $72 Million in Impact Aid

New NAFIS reports show distribution of funds by state, school district and congressional district

Washington, DC – The National Association of Federally Impacted Schools (NAFIS) recently released an overview of Impact Aid Payments for Fiscal Year 2018, including Section 7003 – Basic Support and Section 7002 – Federal Property. These publications detail how Impact Aid funds were distributed to local education agencies across the United States and its territories – and South Dakota school districts receive more than $72 million, among the highest in the nation.

 According to FY 2018 data from the U.S. Department of Education (the most recentavailable), South Dakota schools received $67 million in Basic Support funding, and $1.6 million in Impact Aid Children with Disabilities funding. They also received $3.5 million in Federal Property funding.
