St. Thomas More edges out Cubs in game two of the State Tournament
SIOUX FALLS – The Cubs and the Cavaliers played their second game of the State A basketball tournament on Friday afternoon at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. Chamberlain dug a hole early in the game from cold shooting and turnovers. St. Thomas More, the third seed, earned 24 points from outside the arc in their 51- 48 victory over the Cubs. Chamberlain's Seth Friesz had the final shot from threepoint land to tie the game, but the ball hit the front of the rim and rolled out.
The Cavaliers began the game with four points from six-foot-eight, Isaac Kortemeyer, and three points from Jake Satter. Tiegen Priebe stole the ball and scored two points for the Cubs. Jake Satter hit two more three-pointers to put the Cavaliers up 14-2. Friesz, Tiegen Priebe and Dodge Knippling scored field goals to give the Cubs eight points in the the period. Cavaliers had the lead 14-8.
