Thigh scores 34 points in battle against McLaughlin
The Chamberlain Cubs trailed by 10 after the first quarter ended in the Regions 6A boys' basketball game held at the Chamberlain Armory on Tues., Mar. 3. The McLaughlin Mustangs got hot from outside the arch with five three-point baskets to finish the quarter leading 25-15.
The Cubs came back in the second period with Keshaume Thigh scoring 17 points for Chamberlain. At the half-time intermission, Chamberlain narrowed McLaughlin's lead to one point, 37-36.
The Cubs came out of the locker room with the motivation to take the lead. Sellyck McManus added four points to the Cubs' score giving them their first lead of the game, 40-37. By the end of the period, Chamberlain outscored McLaughlin 17-12. Thigh added six, Hayden Evans scored five and McManus tallied six in the period. In the final stanza, the scoreboard showed the Cubs had a 53-46 lead.
